The unmanned aerial vehicle was succesfully brought down by an Israel Air Force fighter jet off the coast of the northern Israeli city of Haifa

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attempted to violate Israeli airspace from the north at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday (April 22). The UAV was tracked by IDF ground and aerial surveillance for the duration of its flight path as it attempted to approach Israel’s coast. Israel Air Force aircraft intercepted the UAV and successfully downed the target five nautical miles off the coast of the northern Israeli city of Haifa.

IDF naval forces were searching the area.

This is the second time in the past seven months that a UAV has been intercepted in Israeli airspace.

UAVs pose a serious threat to the State of Israel’s security. The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to violate Israel’s sovereignty or harm its security.

In October 2012 the IDF downed a UAV over the northern Negev. The UAV had infiltrated Israeli airspace from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea. The craft was identified by IDF control systems and was tracked for the length of its flight path in Israeli territory by ground and aerial surveillance, including IAF fighter jets. After several minutes, the craft was successfully brought down in the northern Negev desert, to avoid potential harm to a populated area.

During the Second Lebanon War in August 2006, Israel Air Force fighter jets intercepted two Ababil UAVs launched by Hezbollah toward Haifa. The UAVs were located and identified by the IAF’s northern air-defense and aerial control units before it managed to cross the border from Lebanon into Israel. The UAVs were downed by F-16C fighter jets – one fell in the Mediterranean Sea in Lebanese territory while the other was taken down north of Haifa.

It doesn’t matter their age, religion, race or social status. It is a textbook case.

All nannies dream to have a narrow affectionate relation with their bosses (widowers), and with the members of their families, in general.

It is called : “Fran Fine, The Nanny Syndrome”

It is not a pleasant and easy task to have someone watch their children so they can go to work and pay their bills.

Rich widowers are not concerned enough about who watches their children. They hire strangers. They can kill. They call lie. They can perjure themselves in courts.

When a widower hires someone, a weekly psychologist visit could be a mandatory part of the package.

Sometimes they go after something complex and hidden when, in fact, the truth is starkly, and plainly, before them. They are dangerous… .

The nannies often hate their bosses ( women ), but they love single or widower employeers.

Most widowers desire their kids to feel happy and safe with their nannies; often their children will lose their intimate connection with their deceased mother. When children are spending so much time in the care of the nannies, their families take a new shape. Nannies became mothers of second category, bad mothers or stepmothers.

The Motherhood role is lost when children are left in the care of nannies .

When a widower expects a nanny to take on his deceased wife’s full role of motherly nurture in her absence, the roles of nanny and mother lose their distinction, for the children .

Kids will be more attached to their nannies than to their own blood relatives.

Nannies often attempt to maintain the emotional closeness

to the children. They build a bridge, a connection with the daddy’s heart.

Confusion about the roles of the nannies in the minds of the children and their fathers are one of the main concerns.

The relation between nannies and widower bosses is not very clear.

Conflicts

Most nannies are not bad persons, but sometimes they do bad things. Nannies make terrible mistakes in circumstances when they can’t cope with rejection.

They were in love; they are rejected. They can claim their wealthy widower did terrible things, even killed their wives.

Nannies who work for widowers have “Fran Fine, The Nanny Syndrome.””They are married, they are older, but they dream about a First Lady job.

There is a strong identification between the children and their nannies. Kids learn to eat their food, they listen to their music. Kids start to act like them.

A nanny is an unknown person who comes to their house to share their privacy.

Nannies are as their own bosses. They answer the calls the same way as the wife. Same voice. Same words.

Nanny Abandonment Syndrome

She’s been thrown into a helpless situation. Life has taken a turn she didn’t anticipate and welcome, so there’s no satisfaction in terms of the widower feeling badly about the break-up.

They try to repair things in fantasy. There’s a fantasy that they can think of something to do that will make their former boss hurt as much as they do.

A woman who has experienced Nanny Abandonment Syndrome is hurt, bewildered, enraged, obsessed and deeply traumatized. Her life has been turned upside-down and she’s desperate to make sense of how the boss she trusted could betray her. It doesn’t matter whether she was abandoned last week or last decade; she won’t be able to come to terms with the end of her relation until she can solve the mystery of how a man who seemed so loving and committed could morph overnight into an angry stranger.

In revenge cases, the “Obsessive Ex -Nanny” wants the leaving boss to be punished or tormented. The Nanny believes that the leaving boss deserves to be punished or harmed for perceived ‘wrongs’. They don’t love the ex-employeer any more; the obsession has only to do with trying to wreak continuing damage to the ex-boss’s life. They will even pursue avenues of revenge that harm their the children and the employer’s career and reputation.

Qantas and Emirates have welcomed the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) approval of their partnership for a period of five years.

Qantas and Emirates have welcomed the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) approval of their partnership for a period of five years.

The partnership will provide customers with a seamless international and Australian network, frequent flyer benefits and world-class travel experiences.

Today’s decision follows a six month review process by the ACCC that included several rounds of public submissions, a pre-decision conference and a comprehensive analysis of the benefits the partnership will deliver to customers.

Chief Executive Officer of the Qantas Group Alan Joyce said the decision was great news for Australian travellers and local tourism, as well as the airline itself.

“Qantas is an Australian icon and the future of its international business is much brighter with this partnership,” said Mr Joyce.

“Customers are already responding very strongly to the joint network that Qantas and Emirates have built, and to the frequent flyer benefits that extend across it, with a significant increase in bookings.”

Qantas and Emirates will offer a combined total of 98 flights a week between Australia and Dubai, with Qantas continuing to operate daily services from Melbourne and Sydney through to London.

In welcoming today’s announcement, President of Emirates Tim Clark, said: “This is a truly game-changing partnership that brings together two of the world’s best airlines and offers some of the highest quality travel experiences.

“Dubai is a leading global hub and through it, our two airlines will connect Australia to Europe, the UK and Northern Africa more smoothly than ever before,” added Mr Clark.

From Dubai, passengers will be able to connect to 65 one-stop destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Almost all of these connections to Europe and most to North Africa are available within 4 hours of landing in Dubai.

As part of the decision, Qantas and Emirates have committed to maintain at least their current levels of capacity on the four routes that both airlines fly between Australia and New Zealand. Subject to approval in New Zealand, the ability to cooperate on these Trans Tasman routes creates the potential for the two airlines to market both Australia and New Zealand to their global networks.

Qantas and Emirates applied to the ACCC for authorisation of their partnership in September 2012. In December 2012 the ACCC released its draft determination, indicating its intention to approve the partnership for a period of five years.

In January 2013, the ACCC approved an application for interim approval, which enabled the two airlines to coordinate pricing, schedules and capacity in advance of today’s decision. Fares on the joint network went on sale in mid-January for travel from 31 March 2013, subject to regulatory approval.

Preparations for the partnership, including Qantas’ new operational hub in Dubai, are now complete. The first flight is scheduled from Sydney to London (via Dubai) on 31 March 2013.

Manila — Thousands of students of all ages from schools in Metro Manila have made cards and written letters in support of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia’s campaign calling for Mali the elephant to be transferred from the Manila Zoo to a sanctuary. The drawings and handwritten appeals will be delivered to President Benigno Aquino III, who has issued a directive to consider Mali’s relocation.

“There’s one thing that children, politicians, celebrities, animal welfare groups, and elephant experts have all agreed on: Mali needs—and deserves—to be transferred to a proper sanctuary,” says PETA Asia Campaigns Manager Rochelle Regodon. “PETA hopes President Aquino will take immediate action to ensure that Mali is freed from the isolation and neglect that she has endured for 36 years.”

“For long years, Mali made us happy, so please let’s us make Mali happy too,” says one card. “Kindly respect him and love him while he’s still alive. I really wanted him to be returned where he belonged. … My heart cried and deeply hurt about his situation,” said another.

At a sanctuary, Mali would have hectares of land on which to roam, rivers and ponds to bathe in, the crucial company of other elephants, and veterinary care for the potentially fatal foot problems caused by her decades-long captivity. Among the prestigious individuals and organizations that have joined PETA in calling for Mali’s release are world-renowned veterinarian Dr. Henry Richardson, wildlife conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall, a dozen other elephant experts, more than 50 international animal protection groups, and 20 local nongovernmental organizations.

The new Caring for our Country Sustainable Agriculture stream will promote sustainable food production, innovation, land management and a skilled community.

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Joe Ludwig, released the Caring for our Country Sustainable Agriculture Strategic Directions document today while in Western Australia.

The Minister was visiting a grape grower in Belhus in the Swan Valley who received funds under the first phase of Caring for our Country. The funds were directed toward improving nutrient management and irrigation efficiencies, fostering an understanding of fertiliser use and leaching into the Swan River by landholders in the Perth region.

“Caring for our Country is a flagship program that is already delivering benefits to our rural communities,” Minister Ludwig said.

“I’m pleased to release the aims and directions of the new Caring for our Country Sustainable Agriculture Stream, which will help stakeholders and grant applicants benefit from the next phase of Caring for our Country.

“The new Caring for our Country Sustainable Agriculture stream is good news for farmers and land managers. It will also help community groups, regional natural resource management groups; Indigenous groups and industry bodies to undertake key natural resource management projects which make important contributions to sustainable farm and fisheries practices.

“Caring for our Country’s Sustainable Agriculture stream will continue to build on the Gillard Government’s legacy of protecting and conserving our biodiversity and promoting the adoption of sustainable farm practices.”

Minister Ludwig said the strategic aims of the program are to:
?promote sustainable production of food
?promote innovation in Australian agriculture and fisheries practices
?reduce the impact of weeds and pests on agriculture
?improve management of agriculture and fisheries
?foster a skilled and capable Landcare community.

“Over the long term, the Agriculture stream aims to achieve an environment that is healthier, better protected, well managed and resilient.”

Minister Ludwig said this will be achieved through a mix of investment approaches, including community grants, regional delivery and strategic investments.

“This is part of the Government’s 20–year vision for the future of agriculture where Australia’s agricultural lands support and maintain clean water, biodiversity and healthy soils, while continuously improving food and fibre productivity,” Minister Ludwig said.

Work is progressing on the second phase of Caring for our Country and further information on the program including grants rounds, funding allocations for regional delivery and regional Landcare facilitators will be announced shortly.

Malachi Throne with Robert Wagner in It Takes a Thief, 1968.

Throne was a popular guest star on many television series of the 1960s and 1970s, including The Defenders, Naked City, Ben Casey, The Untouchables, GE True, The Fugitive, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (“The Four-Steps Affair” from 1965), Mannix (as Inspector Frank Kyler in “Run Sheep Run” – 1967), the High Chaparral, Hogan’s Heroes and also co-starring, with Robert Wagner, in the ABC series, It Takes a Thief. Throne also appeared in the 1965 season of Lost in Space as the Thief in the episode “The Thief of Outer Space.”

He made two appearances in the CBS’s Mission: Impossible, in seasons 1 and 4, in the late 1960s. He also appeared twice in the Irwin Allen ABC series, The Time Tunnel, most notably in the episode “The Death Merchant”, as Machiavelli, lost in time at the Battle of Gettysburg as well as co-starring in the episode “Night Of The Long Knives.” He even supplied voice talent in the unlikely “Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp” live action Saturday morning series of 1970-1971.

Roles in Star Trek

Throne provided the voice of “the Keeper” in the Star Trek’s first pilot episode, “The Cage”, which did not air in its original form until 1988, though most of the episode was included within the two-part episode “The Menagerie” when it aired in 1966.Throne was hired to play another role in “The Menagerie,” which was technically a dual role: a commodore in Starfleet named José I. Mendez, the officer in charge of the starbase where the story begins, and a replica of him created by Talosian illusion, who presides at Spock’s court martial. Because his voice was recognizably the same as that of the Keeper, the Keeper’s voice was electronically altered in pitch.[2] Earlier in The Outer Limits series he had guested in the “Cold Hands, Warm Heart” (1964) episode with William Shatner.

On Star Trek: The Next Generation he played Pardek, a Romulan senator, in the two-part episode “Unification”.

In 2004, Throne appeared in the second episode of the Star Trek Fan Series New Voyages, “In Harm’s Way”, playing a Klingon.

Roles in Batman

One of his strangest roles was as the villain “False Face” in the ABC Batman (1966) series. The character, who used a variety of disguises to effect his nefarious schemes, wore a semi-transparent mask when not in the midst of his crimes. The mask rendered Throne’s real face unrecognizable on screen. Playing off this effect, but against Throne’s wishes, the show’s producers wrote the on-screen credit as “? as False Face”, which denied Throne his credit. However, at the end credits of the episode, “Holy Rat Race,” his full name was finally given full credit. His portrayal was a substitution for Clint Eastwood’s proposed version of Two-Face.

Later, he appeared in animation as the voice of Two-Face’s superego “Judge” on The New Batman Adventures (1998), and as the voice of Fingers the Gorilla on the Batman Beyond episode “Speak No Evil” (2000).

Role in Babylon 5

In the 1990s in the American television series Babylon 5, Throne became known to a new generation of TV science fiction viewers as “Prime Minister Malachi”, a high official of the Centauri government in the Hugo Award winning episode “The Coming of Shadows”. (The surprising eponymous character name was not revealed until a later episode.) The Prime Minister’s assassination ensured that the Centauri pursued a costly war, with tragic repercussions that drove one of the many plot lines in the series’ five year story arc.

Theatre career

Throne lived in southern California and did local theatre work there. He was a member of the Theatre West company in Hollywood. He also won critical acclaim for several performances with The Fountain Theatre in Los Angeles.

Bio : Malachi Throne (December 1, 1928 – March 13, 2013) was an American stage and television actor, noted for his guest-starring roles on Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, The Time Tunnel, Mission: Impossible, and The Six Million Dollar Man, and his recurring role on It Takes a Thief.

The following is the text of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s remarks as delivered today at City Hall:

“Well if everybody came here to find out what I said on David Letterman, I suggest you watch tonight. I cannot help you on that, but everybody watches David Letterman so you’ll get a chance. If there’s any other subject, was there something else we were supposed to be here for?

“Well good afternoon, everyone. On a more serious note, over the past ten years, as you know, we have adopted many groundbreaking and controversial public health policies – from banning smoking in workplaces, to requiring chain restaurants to post calorie counts, to banning trans fats, to posting letter grades in restaurants, to prohibiting smoking in parks and on beaches. And together, those and many other policies have helped New Yorkers live longer, healthier lives.

“Life expectancy in our city is now three years longer than it was in 2001 – and more than two years longer than the national average. But as far we’ve come, there is one public health crisis that has grown worse and worse over the years, and that is obesity.

“Obesity is a leading cause of diabetes, heart disease, and other deadly killers. We’ve tackled it by promoting exercise and healthy eating – and by supporting green markets and encouraging bodegas to carry fresh fruits and vegetables.

“But the fact is, as we all know, that is not enough. If we are serious about fighting obesity, we have to be honest about what causes it – and we have to have the courage to tackle it head-on. 70,000 people will die of obesity in America this year, 5,000 people in New York City will die of obesity.

“Now, the best science tells us that sugary drinks are a leading cause of obesity. Some people say: Just talk about the problem, raise awareness, and hope that results in change. But it’s not enough to talk and it’s not enough to hope.

“We have a responsibility as human beings to do something, to save each other, to save the lives of ourselves, our families, our friends, and all of the rest of the people that live on God’s planet. And so while other people will wring their hands over the problem of sugary drinks, in New York City, we’re doing something about it.

“The Board of Health’s limit on the serving size of sugary drinks does not limit anyone’s consumption; it just requires them to think about whether they really want more than 16 ounces.

“Remember, for many years, the standard soda size was 6 ounces – not 16, it was 6. Then it was 12 ounces – and people thought that was huge. Then it became 16, then 20 ounces.

“We believe it’s reasonable to draw a line – and it’s responsible to draw a line right now. With so many people contracting diabetes and heart disease, with so many children who are overweight and obese, with so many poor neighborhoods suffering the worst of this epidemic, we believe it is reasonable and responsible to draw a line – and that is what the Board of Health has done. As a matter of fact, it would be irresponsible not to try to do everything we can to save lives.

“Throughout its history, the New York City Board of Health has taken bold action to confront major public health problems. It banned lead paint, it required fluoride to be included in drinking water, and it required calorie counts to be included on the menus of chain restaurants.

“In each of these cases, the Federal government later followed the Board of Health’s example. Our Board of Health has always been a pioneer, and we’re very proud of it. It has always been ahead of the curve, and you would expect nothing less from this city.

“Banning trans fats and adopting restaurant grading are just two other recent examples of that. Limiting the size of sugary beverages is consistent with the Board of Health’s tradition and its mission. And we believe that ultimately, the courts will find it consistent with the law.

“Being the first to do something is never easy. When we began this process, we knew we would face lawsuits. Anytime you adopt a groundbreaking policy, special interests will sue. That’s America.

“But we strongly believe that, in the end, the courts will recognize the Board of Health’s authority to regulate the sale of beverages that have virtually no nutritional value, and which – consumed in large quantities – are leading to disease and death for thousands of people every year.

“There are many, many instances where a lower court decision has gone against us and then been reversed. If lower court rulings had always stood, Grand Central Terminal would have been knocked down forty years ago.

“We’re confident that today’s decision will ultimately be reversed, too.”
