MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Zettaset, a leading Big Data innovator, announced that technology       industry veteran Jim Vogt has been appointed president and chief       executive officer in order to align the company’s leadership with       increased product development and ongoing growth goals.

“Zettaset has already established itself as an innovator in the Big Data       enterprise space and a visionary in this high-growth market”

Founder Brian Christian will move from CEO to assume duties as chief       technology officer.

According to a recent report by Forrester Research, “The Forrester Wave:       Enterprise Hadoop Solutions, Q1 2012,” the Big Data management space is       growing rapidly, and the analyst firm describes Hadoop as the “nucleus       of the next generation” in cloud-based enterprise data warehousing.       Zettaset’s technology harnesses the power of Hadoop and makes it       accessible and consumable by enterprises.

With more than 25 years of leadership experience in both start-up and       established corporations, Vogt is poised to help Zettaset take advantage       of the unprecedented growth opportunities in the Big Data market. Most       recently, Vogt served as senior vice president and general manager of       the Cloud Services business unit at Blue Coat Systems. Prior to Blue       Coat, he served as president and CEO at Trapeze Networks, which was       acquired by Belden, Inc.

“The Big Data space is in its early stages, and with the data deluge       that every company is experiencing, we’ve just scratched the surface on       how Hadoop can deliver unprecedented ROI and provide a huge competitive       advantage for companies,” Vogt says. “With our solution, Zettaset will       equip organizations with the tools they need to create, manage and       leverage Hadoop clusters, without the need for costly professional       services. This is a powerful and unique value point and a key reason why       I joined Zettaset.”

Vogt’s accomplished career also includes senior management and product       experience at major public companies including Nortel Networks, where he       was president of the Small Business Solutions Group, and Bay Networks,       where he was vice president and general manager of the workgroup product       and distributed network systems divisions. Priorities for Vogt as       Zettaset president and CEO are to scale the company for growth as it       continues to cultivate and develop partners, customers and its       go-to-market strategy.

“Zettaset has already established itself as an innovator in the Big Data       enterprise space and a visionary in this high-growth market,” says Nick       Efstratis, managing director of EPIC Ventures and Zettaset board member.       “Adding an industry veteran like Vogt will allow us to better meet the       explosive demand being generated around Big Data.”

In his transition from CEO to CTO, Christian will continue to play a key       role in the company’s growth by better leveraging his expertise and       passion for Big Data and security technology development.

“Brian has done an exceptional job laying the foundation for success, in       not only developing our initial products, but also in forming the first       critical commercial partnerships,” says Andreas Stavropoulous, managing       director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Zettaset board member. “Jim has       all the proven leadership skills and experience necessary to lead       Zettaset to its next phase of growth as we continue to build on this       strong foundation.”
